Currently tests are provided for 16 different versions (known as "events") of GMO corn. The gene names, the herbicide tolerance, toxin produced, and the company that produced the versions are listed below. Glyphosate is commonly known as RoundUp and is an herbicide to kill weeds. Glufosinate is commonly known as Liberty, Rely, Finale, Basta, Challenge, and other names, and is an herbicide. Bt toxin refers to a number of different proteins made by Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) that are toxic to the gut of insects. |
